This painting is done on a reclaimed canvas that had molding paste applied to it, giving the entire piece a rippling texture. The colors in combination with the grimy-ness of the black marks remind me of a rainy Philadelphia day.
This piece was inspired by the famous Hokusai wave. Instead using collage and mixed media I created the contemporary wave of our society. The title, 'Driven to Abstraction' reflects my feeling towards the active inundation of our society with media and propaganda
32x48 plywood on wood frame.
This painting combines oil, acrylic, thin strips of balsa wood, dry media, and collage. The hidden addition of collage elements adds a level a domesticity, with each image finding its home in the abstract landscape.
The dark blue in this piece is a unique monoprint. On top of which I added gold spray paint, and watercolor to add a softer texture and some additional color.
